Another Happy Customer!

Just want to say thank you for having a rather elusive Power Window Motor Gear for my 1989 Dodge B250 van.

The Dodge dealer up here in Canada quoted me $167.00 for the gear. I purchased it brand new in the box from you for about $15.00. Amazing!

Thank you again. My power window works great!

Repair Mistakes & Blunders

Ouch!

When I was younger I worked as a mechanic’s assistant for an exotic car salesman, a dream job for a high school motorhead! I did tune ups, detailing etc. and sometimes got to deliver the cars. One day I was completing a tune up on a 1974 BMW 2002Tii (outside in front of one of the garage bays as it was a beautiful summer day) when the lunch whistle blew. I shut the car off and left it with the hood up, keys in the ignition, dwell meter attached, and went to lunch.

Upon my return, I reached in the window and turned the key. To my surprise, the car lurched forward, crashing through the garage door, and stopping only after hitting the pristine Triumph TR-6 in the garage. I stood there mouth open and speechless as everyone ran to see what had happened. I couldn’t comprehend it...I had the car running in place, emergency brake on while I was tuning the car, how could it have done this? Since I was the low man on the totem pole, everyone looked at me like I was just another irresponsible kid, until the shop owner came over and admitted that he’d taken the car out for lunch and returned it, leaving it in gear without setting the emergency brake! He had actually gone through the trouble of re-opening the hood and reattaching the dwell meter, but left it in gear and did not set the emergency brake! Luckily the damage to both cars was relatively minor, and I spent the day re-installing the garage doors. Thank God I had an honest boss! Lesson learned...NEVER start a car without your foot on the clutch.

Spring Time Well Spent

RockAuto

Here’s a springtime checklist for safety, dependability, and fuel economy.

  1. Check the air filter (and cabin air filter if applicable) and replace it if necessary.
  2. Check the battery and charging system. Clean corrosion from the terminals.
  3. Pressure test the cooling system, examining belts and hoses for wear or deterioration.
  4. Check or change the engine oil (change oil and filter, lubricate all grease points if this service is due).
  5. Check all lights.
  6. Check windshield wipers.
  7. Check under the vehicle, including tires and suspension.
  8. Check air conditioner refrigerant and hoses.
  9. Check engine to determine condition of fuel, ignition and emission control systems.

If you need to replace any of the parts mentioned above, the RockAuto catalog has all the parts your car will ever need!

Jack's 1992 Lincoln Mark VII LSC SE
1992 Lincoln Mark VII LSC SE

RockAuto.com has the hard to find parts that are crucial to my completing the restoration of my 1992 Lincoln Mark VII before the All Ford Nationals Show at Carlisle in June. The car is also my daily driver that just turned 180,400 miles. Routine maintenance and great products from RockAuto.com have kept the Mark VII alive!

I always find the original Motorcraft and other parts I need at RockAuto.com; Distributor Cap & Rotor, OEM Plug Wires, various sensors, TFI Module, EGR valve, IAC and MAP Sensor, left & right side Power Window Motors, Airbag Clock Spring, and Autolite Platinum Spark Plugs. If a part is not labeled as FoMoCo, Motorcraft, or Autolite it doesn’t go on the car. The show judges just love to see “stock/oem” parts!

“Rock” On!
