Clip-On Weight Installation Guide from Perfect Equipment

1. Selection of a suitable weight 2. Place the weight on the rim 3. Knock on the weight 4. Check correct fit of the weight
Select the appropriate weight for rim. Before installation to the rim, apply the weight to check its fit. Place the weight at the location of the imbalance. Before you knock on the weight with a hammer, make sure that the clip touches the rim flange. The actual body of the weight should not touch the rim. After correctly aligning the weight, knock on it with the corresponding installation hammer. Do not use more than two strong hits for installation. Note: Increasing the impact number can damage the weight coating. Inspect weight to confirm the it is attached firmly after installation.

What is wheel assembly imbalance?

When made, wheels and tires inherently feature a heavy spot, or an imbalance. There are two types of imbalance:

Static Imbalance Dynamic Imbalance
Static imbalance is caused by a heavy-spot located on the circumference of an assembly and can cause wheel tramp, or a severe bouncing of the assembly when in motionDynamic imbalance is caused by a heavy-spot outside of the side-centerline of an assembly and can cause wheel shimmy, or a severe side-to-side staggering of the assembly when in motion
