The engine’s timing chain has to be tight to run smoothly. To prevent the chain from jumping off the sprocket, INA's chain tensioners compensate for length changes during operation to avoid typical engine rattle and excessive chain wear. INA's chain tensioners do not apply pressure directly to the chain, but to the tensioner guide along which the chain runs. This allows for compensation of the length changes that occur due to heat and cooling with the help of spring force and oil pressure so the engine runs smoothly.
